Alps, Trains, Postcard Towns and More: Our First European Group Trip Was a Dream Come True

This week, our first ATM group returned from their 12-day adventure through three of Europe’s most breathtaking countries—Germany, Italy, and Switzerland. Despite a few travelers having to cancel last minute due to medical reasons, our small group of eight carried the spirit of adventure with them every step of the way. And what a journey it was!

From the dramatic peaks of the Dolomites to the lakeside charm of Lucerne, every stop was packed with scenery straight out of a travel magazine. Add in two of the world’s most scenic train rides and a healthy dose of European history, and you’ve got a recipe for a truly unforgettable experience.

✨ Trip Highlights

The Dolomites, Italy
Tucked into the northeastern corner of Italy, these jagged limestone peaks are breathtaking from every angle. They explored picturesque villages that felt like hidden gems, enjoyed leisurely strolls or exhilarating hikes (and the occasional Aperol Spritz), and marveled at landscapes that looked almost too beautiful to be real.

The Glacier Express & Bernina Express, Switzerland
If you’ve ever wondered whether train travel can be magical—the answer is yes. The Glacier Express and Bernina Express both delivered jaw-dropping views of alpine valleys, glacial lakes, and quaint towns. It isn’t just transportation—it’s a highlight of the trip.

Lucerne, Switzerland
A true Swiss gem, Lucerne charmed everyone with its covered wooden bridges, medieval architecture, and peaceful lakeside setting. It’s the perfect place to slow down, soak up the scenery, and reflect on the incredible journey.

History, Culture & Connection
Throughout the trip, the group encountered centuries-old castles, charming market squares, and quiet moments of connection with locals. Every day brought a new story to uncover—and our group loved digging into the history and culture that shaped each destination.

I have never seen such beauty- loved the quaint hotels, the villages, orchards, the alps- everything was so green and lush- flowers everywhere.
