Tentative Itinerary

Arrive in Reykjavik

Your private coach will be waiting for you at the airport, ready to deliver you directly to your accommodation in Hveragerdi for check-in. The drive takes about one hour and 30 minutes and goes through the lunar landscape and moss-covered lava fields of the Reykjanes Peninsula. The rest of the day will be at leisure. This evening, enjoy a Welcome Dinner at the hotel (included in tour cost).

Accommodation: Frost & Fire Hotel (3 Nights) *This hotel is located outside of a small town, so we may have the opportunity to see Northern Lights near the hotel at night*

South Shore Adventure

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel, then depart for a journey through the stunning landscape of Iceland‘s south coast. This is the land of Njál‘s Saga – a region of breathtaking scenery and legendary stories. During your guided tour you‘ll encounter the wonderful variety of the south: from the wide plains formed by glacial rivers, to the sheer sea cliffs of Dyrhólaey or Reynishverfi, and the spectacular waterfalls of Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss. In clear weather you’ll experience unforgettable views of the Hekla and Eyjafjallajökull volcanoes and, if the conditions are right, the Westman Islands.

Golden Circle + Northern Lights

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and the morning at leisure. This afternoon, meet your guide and depart for your Golden Circle tour. Combining natural and historical wonders, you’ll experience Iceland‘s landmark attractions in one incredible day: the magnificent Gullfoss waterfall, the spouting hot springs of Geysir, and Þingvellir national park, site of the Viking parliament and over 1000 years of history. The classic tour, not to be missed.

This evening, enjoy a traditional Viking Dinner at Ingólfsskáli.

Reykjavik

After breakfast, transfer back to Reykjvaik. Drive past the Presidential residence of Bessastaðir and to the town of Hafnarfjörður. Take a coastal road to Lake Kleifarvatn, set in fascinating, stark, moon-like surroundings.  This was the site of a famous Icelandic suspense novel by Arnaldur Indriðason. Near the lake’s southern end lies Krísuvík with powerful jets of sulphurous steam escaping from deep below the earth’s crust.  Here you can view numerous small hot springs, mud pots, boiling pools and other types of geothermal activity. Continue under low mountains along the shore, where craggy cliffs rise steeply from the sea. Visit Grindavík, a bustling town with a large fishing fleet.  This evening, meet your guide and search for the Northern lights.  Watching the fantastic colours of the Northern Lights dance across the arctic sky is an unforgettable experience, and Iceland is one of the best places to see them! The northern lights are mostly observed on crisp, still evenings.  This tour takes your group away from the city lights to give you the best chance of witnessing this spectacular natural phenomenon.

Important:  This tour is subject to weather conditions. Northern lights are a natural phenomenon and sightings cannot be guaranteed.

Accommodation: Miðgarður Centerhotel (3 Nights)

Snaefellsnes Peninsula

After breakfast, Drive from Reykjavík via Borgarfjörður to Snæfellsnes peninsula and Snæfellsjökull National Park. Continue on to the romantic little fishing villages of Arnarstapi and Hellnar, both famous for their rock formations in the shapes of arches, caves, sea stacks and cliffs alive with huge colonies of birds. Continue your journey around Snæfellsnesjökull glacier, through the small fishing villages on the northern shores of the peninsula. Return to your hotel in the late afternoon.
